According to this piece in Sunday’s NY Times, in record numbers, NYC residents rely on their subway system to get to work and for leisure transportation.

Now with a cleaner and more efficient trip, and following strong transit-oriented-development projects in the outer-boroughs, it appears that ridership will only continue to rise. Reasonably crowded platforms, whether it is weekdays or weekends,  proves the importance of adequately funding the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, the authority charged with providing subway service that accommodates today’s riders and future demand projections.
