Senate-passed federal transportation bill applauded by smart growth advocates; all eyes on House

(March 14, 2012) Transportation for America, a leading national advocate for smart growth and transportation reform for sustainable development and communities, has applauded the federal transportation bill adopted by the U.S. Senate.T4America’s director James Corless summed up the Senate’s work this way:  “The Senate today has done the nation a great service in overcoming partisan gridlock to help Americans avoid literal gridlock.” Now, all eyes are on the House of Representatives to depart from their highly damaging proposals, which would gut transit funding and in other ways contribute to our unsustainable transportation systems.
