Sandy nixes Trump’s controversial plan for Long Island waterfront development

(January 9, 2013)– Superstorm Sandy has stopped even the seemingly unstoppable developer, Donald Trump. Trump has been pushing for a $24 oceanside development at Long Island’s Jones Beach (Nassau County), but Trump himself realized after the carnage of Sandy that such a development no longer made sense. Proponents of the project rue the lost revenues the project could bring, while environmentalists and other opponents are celebrating its demise.
