New York Times features the rapid rise of planning for walkability on Long Island

(December 4, 2011) The New York Times printed a major feature story about efforts in on Long Island to make communities exponentially more pedestrian friendly. From Wyandanch to  Great Neck to Ronkonkoma, plans and projects are transforming automobile-focused built environments to walkable and bicycle- and transit-oriented places where people can be free from the “greatest freedom”–the car.
