Another church going residential in North Buffalo

Continuing a Buffalo trend, another church building is to be converted into residential spaces.  The conversion of the North Buffalo Plymouth United Church of Christ into six apartments is the fourth such conversion in Buffalo in the past three years. With urban populations declining in Western New York, many urban congregations have also declined precipitously, leaving many underutilized or vacant houses of worship. Developers are increasingly seeing these artisan-crafted buildings as terrific redevelopment opportunities. Perhaps most notable of the Buffalo church conversions was music star and Buffalo native Ani DiFranco’s transformation of a downtown church into a community performance space.
