Syracuse Common Council votes to give themselves authority to overrule the city planning commission

(December 2, 2011)  In a controversial decision, the City of Syracuse Common Council voted 6-3 to give the Council the power to override decisions of the City Planning Commission. Although denied a veto by the majority of the Council vote, Mayor Stephanie Miner has vowed to fight the decision.
